Difficult to get good pictures of the Bamboo Woodpeckers because they are always too far . This was only my second encounter with this species. Anyway this is a male bird ‘stripping’ the soft outer layer of the stem to get to the food.
it's good to catch up again with you Madi. The sunbirds are superb, you captured all the variations of colour there. Bamboo Woodpecker is a new one on me, is the bill that pale or is it the flash? In any case you obviously did well to get a picture or two.
Nice 'bird in action shot', by the way surely it's not bamboo that it's stripping!
ReplyDeleteHey, another one getting that birdie. Congrats and wondering when is my turn?
ReplyDeleteGood catch, Kemensah is on top of my must go places ...

ReplyDeleteThanks all for your comments. Phil, the colour of the bill is naturally whitish/ ivory.
ReplyDeleteVery good!
ReplyDeleteHave been searching this small woody for sometime, still empty handed.
Great shots of a rarely seen and photo'd species!
