Female Lesser Shortwing

I know that there’s a pair of this Lesser Shortwing in the area but unfortunately only the female was seen after an hour long stakeout.

She’s Not Camera Shy: Brown Shrike

She just wanted her pictures taken, went through the various poses like a beautiful model would. She even let me  in really really close.

Two Brown Shrikes

Birds were few and far in between, only the Shrikes provided us with some action. Shot the first one thinking that she was a Tiger Shrike. Turned out to be a juvenile Brown Shrike. An adult male Brown Shrike ( Lanius lucionensis ) was in the same area as the juvenile. The scaley patterns on the body become less conspicuous as they mature.

Gone Bananas: Brown Shrike

A Brown Shrike using  a banana tree as a vantage point for hunting. I kept bumping into her in the same area this last couple of weeks.
