19th February 2011, Awana , Genting Highland, Pahang.

It was intriguing to see her finish the long slender fruit  which seemed to be a favourite among many species of birds. The fruit passed through her bill like a bullet belt passing through a machine-gun!

Orange–Bellied Leafbirds

11th December 2009, Awana trail, Pahang

They brought colours to an otherwise grey and misty day. These Orange-Bellied Leafbirds (Chloropsis hardwickii) were the early birds that I saw after the mist lifted.  The males are more  striking with black colored throat.

This was the first time that I was able to get close enough for some decent shots. One thing I’ve noticed: highland birds are not easily spooked and are easier to photograph.

Lifer 1: Fire-Tufted Barbet ( Psilopogon pyrolophus)

I’ve heard so much about the Old Pump house Road as a birding destination so on Sunday I went with my son to tread the 6km journey. When the bird wave came at about 9.30am, the birds were all around us that it wasn’t easy to concentrate on the one in your viewfinder!
These photographs are my lifers.
Others seen and photographed:
-Grey-Chinned Minivets ( male and female)
-Large Woodshrike
-Bar-Winged Flycatcher-Shrike
-Black-Browed Barbet
-Spectacled Laughingthrush

Seen and heard but not photographed:
-Hornbill (unsure which species)
