His Royal Highness : Sultan Tit

2nd October 2011, Fraser’s Hill, Pahang.

There were about 20 photographers in front of Jelai Resort waiting or shooting various birds that came to feed on the insects that had fallen victim to the light. When somebody said ‘Sultan Tit coming’ they left whatever they were doing and immediately turned their big guns on this black & yellow bird. He sure has a majestic presence, moving from tree to tree picking moths for breakfast.  Alas, the visual treat only lasted about 2 minutes before he was gone.

Sultan Tit

3rd October 2009, Kemensah, Selangor

The biggest surprise was this  male Sultan Tit (Melanochlora sultanea). They are usually found at higher elevations. He came  in a bird wave made up of  several other bird species .
