Drongo or Cuckoo- Please decide.

28 June 2009, Old Pump House Road, Gohtong Jaya

Are you a Drongo or are you a Cuckoo? Well, they have decided that you are actually a Cuckoo impersonating a Drongo. This specimen is a juvenile Drongo Cuckoo (Surniculus lugubris), you can tell by the spots on the body which will eventually disappear as they mature.

_DSC0450 This bird had just caught a caterpillar and was giving it a real bashing against the tree branch before finally swallowing it.

  1. Lovely feeding shoots!
Very fruitful outing at that highland trail.

  2. All of your pictures are of species I've never seen photos of before. Are these all from Malaysia? They are fantastic pictures

  3. Yeah this is a Asian Drongo Cuckoo (Surniculus lugubris).
    In this photo shows juvenile.
Because this bird have many white spots on its body.

  4. TQ all. Yes Nigel they are all from Malaysia, local species.
