Olive-Backed Sunbird

26th February 2010, Kota Bharu, Kelantan

Olive-Backed Sunbird (Cinnyris jugularis) busy with its early morning routine. Was ill-prepared for birding since the main reason for the trip was a wedding. These were shot handheld with the 300mm non VR lens & TC, turned out OK.

  1. Great shots-I only ever see the female of this species who are considerably less colourful!

  2. You must have plenty of time on hand!!! Great details.
Interesting habits of the Blue-eared. Did not choose your favorite bough yesterday but made a brief appearance to say "Hello" to me. Hey! Thanks a lot.

  3. I'm lucky because my birding ground is only 10 minutes away. I bird Saturday and Sunday mornings only, if I'm not working!.I try to fit in between all the other social/ family obligations which themselves could be opportunities for birding. I don't spend too much time processing the images (still prefer being out there), that's why my postings will have 2-3 images per day & not much text, which require probably 15mins to do after work.
So far my birding Visa has not been revoked yet by the Ministry of Home Affairs!
