Rusty Breasted Cuckoo

24th September 2011, Kemensah, Selangor

A male Rusty breasted Cuckoo  swooped down from a higher perch to catch a caterpillar and stayed  for a few minutes to finish off  his meal. Luckily the branch was quite low, which provided an excellent opportunity for some eye level shots.

  1. Nice shots of a species I've yet to see!
We've got enough of it close relative Plaintive Cuckoo in northern Thailand. I need to see peninsula specialty soon!

  4. Thanks Ayuwat, Wilma for your kind comments and compliments.Yes the Rusty Breasted Cuckoo is definitely the more difficult species to see compared to Plaintive Cuckoo.
