| Still no chick. Changing of the Guards: I saw the male  circling and ‘buzzing’ the nest a few times  indicating that the  changeover was imminent. This time I was ready! The female was initially on duty.

The male flew in next to the female
The female flew off.  The change was over in 3 seconds. The nest now looks like a ball socket holding the egg, preventing it from moving and  rolling  off the nest.

More maintenance work by the male.

What a lovely shot Madi, keep posting. I couldn't make it last Saturday and now I'm back in Kenyir until end of June. Hope this pair is still around....
ReplyDeleteGreat catch, Madi! They are a beautiful pair. I hope the egg isn't a "dud".
ReplyDeletecheers,
Wilma
Wow!.. Day 24 still not hatch.
ReplyDeleteLovely pair picture.
There are very little info about the duration of incubation period of this species. You are a pioneer in documenting this.
I really hope that the egg is not a dud too. I read in another website that the incubation period could be betw 21-26 days so there's still hope.
