Correction: Previously posted as a Black Drongo & Crow billed Drongo 19th June 2010, Kemensah, Selangor. |
She was one of three Greater Racket Tailed Drongos vocalizing loudly. I think she was a bit tired after the mock aerial dogfights and decided to rest on a branch right above my head. |

We have a couple of species of Drongo locally. I watched one the other day as it performed areobatics around an intruding Asian Open Bill no less.
ReplyDeleteNice photographs too.
Madi, great shots. But it is an immature Crow-billed Drongo.
ReplyDeleteI know there are CB Drongos in Kemensah. I was a bit uncertain with this one, she had the face and bill of a Crow-Billed but lacked the curls at the end of the tail feathers. I think you are correct Mun, it is a young Crow Billed Drongo.
ReplyDeleteWill make the necessary correction. Thanks
The 2nd shot is perfect.
ReplyDeleteGreat shots, Madi. Had some shots of this bird but was unsure of it's ID. Thanks everyone.
ReplyDeleteNice shots of the drongo Madi. That red eye stands out in your picture.
ReplyDeleteMadi,
ReplyDeleteDave reminded that it is off-season for Crow-billed. I think that it is most probably an immature Greater Racket-tailed. We can actually make out a slight crest in the second photo. Sorry for my mistake.
It is always tricky when it comes to immature birds. Thanks all for your comments / help.
