Great Slaty Woodpeckers

Local Name: Belatuk Gajah Scientific Name: Mulleripicus pulverulentus They are the world’s largest woodpeckers and to be able to see them flying together  gracefully  and  playing on this dead tree  was truly an amazing experience . This group is probably a family comprising of an adult male (left, with orange cheek patch) an adult female (topmost) and a juvenile (right).           Enjoy the video

Brown Barbets

Local Name: Takur Dahan Scientific Name: Caloramphus fuliginosus A group of Brown barbets comprising of adults and juveniles flew in to perch right above our heads. Notice the difference in the colours of the beaks with the lighter being the juvenile.     The adult     The juvenile with pinkish beak and looking rather thin.
