Having eyes in the back of one’s head is definitely an advantage and that is what evolution has bestowed upon this tiny owl. Feather pattern which resembles the face of this owlet occurs at the back of her head, possibly to confuse potential attackers and predators thus allowing extra time for her to escape.
It is very convincing.
