Saw several actions from a pair of White-bellied Sea Eagle that day. The highlights were: 1. One eagle came in really low over our heads, 2. One eagle being harassed by a Brahminy Kite, 3. Two eagles performing the courtship ritual by grasping their talons together while they spiral downwards.
Let’s see who’s the boss around here!
Managed to get some close up shots as she flew overhead. The courtship ritual. They would come together in mid aid and spiral down together, seperating when they reach an altitude which was no longer safe.

That audacious kite is so much smaller than the eagle. Brave? Stupid? a little of both?
ReplyDeleteGreat shots of the talon grasping.
Awesome action shots! Well done.
ReplyDeleteWonderful! Love every photo!
ReplyDeleteThanks Wilma, Mun, Russell. Almost like David & Goliath, Wilma.
ReplyDeleteInteresting series of photos! But these sea-eagles are still juvenile birds. I think they might be engaging in a fight or play rather than a courtship ritual.
ReplyDeleteYes ayuwat , you are right. They could be playing because after spiralling down they seperated and flew together without any sign of hostility.
ReplyDeleteHi Rosmadi, Great shots of the eagles. Congratulations!
