She’s one funny–looking bird. No way of landing a clean shot with her limiting her movements to the thick ferns |

It was intriguing to see her finish the long slender fruit which seemed to be a favourite among many species of birds. The fruit passed through her bill like a bullet belt passing through a machine-gun! A female bird going for a different fruit |

One wouldn’t want to miss the opportunity to shoot this striking Spiderhunter in Bukit Tinggi. They are quite easy to spot in the Botanical garden. Slurp slurp! |

A Tiger Shrike was on the prowl, eyes intently focused on her target. A grasshopper was on the menu for breakfast. |

Not a particularly colourful bird but just as beautiful as the others in Bukit Tinggi. |

This rather confiding female Verditer Flycatcher came really close. She seemed curious as to why the group of people were pointing their long lenses at her. |

I had photographed an Orange-breasted Trogon which had lost its tail during my last visit to Bukit Tinggi. If this was the same bird then she had regrown herself a beautiful looking tail.

The Silver–breasted Broadbill were out in numbers, I saw at least 6 near the flower nursery. Several birds had started building their nest near the tea house. Good to see a healthy population of Silver Broadbills in Bukit Tinggi.

The Orange–Headed Thrush was in Bukit Tinggi the previous season and it is interesting to see that they have made it their regular place to visit. |

It has been some time since my last trip to Bukit Tinggi. My objective in particular was the Siberian Thrush which had been seen by fellow birders/photographers. Luck was against me when I was told that the group had not been sighted for the past few days. Anyway, I had a fun time shooting other birds, some would even come to feed at your feet like a group of these Grey-throated Babblers. They are hyperactive birds and shooting them is a real test of patience. Going after the moths in between the flower pots Down the hatch!

The same tree that attracted the Scaly-breasted Bulbuls was also a magnet for other birds A pair of Gold-Whiskered Barbet couldn’t resist the temptation of the succulent fruits (managed to shoot one) A male Greater Green Leafbird A male Asian Fairy Bluebird brought the other half A female Asian Fairy Bluebird A Buff-Vented Bulbul Crimson-Breasted Flowerpecker This Little Spiderhunter stopped momentarily on the tree and then flew to a nearby Bamboo, I guess she qualifies! |

A fruiting tree attracted lots of different Bulbuls. These Scaly-Breasted Bulbuls caught my attention since they are rarely sighted in Kemensah. It can be seen from the photos that the scaling on the belly is more extensive on the first bird. Although the Guide Book does not mention any differences between the sexes could this be an indicator of the gender, or is it only indicative of the level of maturity. |
