10th January 2010, Kemensah, Selangor There are several species of Woodpeckers which are generally red and green and at a glance they look almost similar. These photos of a Checker-Throated Woodpecker were taken at extremely long –range (for my lens & photos highly cropped) as they tend to forage on the upper tier of the canopy. Great photos, as usual. I really like how you caught the sun backlighting its yellow crest. Does this woodpecker seem to have unusually large feet?
