Aaaaargh Missed!

Usually what gets posted are the  images of  a frozen moment in time  which one feels is worth sharing. Have you ever wondered about the ‘moments of magic’ that you missed while shooting that couldn’t get posted simply  because the images are only in your head and not on your  disk?  The Aaaar..ghs, the Oh Nos,  the flicking of a finger, these are the common reactions of the missed moments. And in more severe cases, the pulling out of one’s hair,  banging one’s head against a hard object like a tree trunk or a boulder that you’re using as a hide, sound familiar?; or  hyperventilating and looking in the bag for a  sphygmomanometer ! Of course luck has a lot to do with the final outcome but it’s a constant reminder that you never ever  let your guard down when you’re out there or you could be doing one  or all of those things mentioned. This is an example of one such  moment, caught by my brother Mohd Rosman Hassan while WE were shooting TOGETHER at Bukit Tinggi. ( Photos used with permission). Silver-Breasted Broadbill

13th February 2011, Bukit Tinggi, Pahang.

The Silver–breasted Broadbill  were out in numbers, I saw at least 6 near the flower nursery. Several birds had started building their nest near the tea house. Good to see a healthy population of Silver Broadbills in Bukit Tinggi.

The Awana Trail: getting to know

I have posted a few photos of Silver-Breasted Broadbills after my previous trip to Bukit Tinggi. These new photos do these beautiful birds better justice, showing the full glory of their colours .

Bukit Tinggi, Pahang, 16th May 2009

Went to Bukit Tinggi on Saturday 16/05/2009 with my brother ,Rosman, and my son Ilyas to try out an new birding location. It wasn't very far ( approx. 35 min) from my place in Tmn. Melawati.
Tongue-licking good! This Streaked Spiderhunter ( local name: Kelicap Jantung Pisang) was really enjoying her fresh supply of nectar. Photographs taken in the Botanical Garden.
	She relishes publicity. She just sat there while the cameras were snapping .

 

	Silver–Breasted Broadbill. She was flying in and out bringing food to her chicks.

I’m quite satisfied with the results of the outing. All species were lifers to me.
