The pair of resident Black & Red Broadbills were very active now that it is breeding season. No, it is not a new subspecies endemic to Kemensah! She’s had just caught an insect with long feelers.

| A pair of Black & Red Broadbill attracted my attention with their duck-like call. Shooting a black bird in the shade can be very tricky, especially on focusing. | |

Black & Red Broadbills were very active yesterday. This pair seemed very curious and lingered around the area for sometime until we decided to call it a day. |

Nesting Black & Red Broadbill, Kemensah 24th May 2009-madibirder
| Went to check out a nest of a Black & Red Broadbill (Cymbirhynchus macrorhynchos) local name : Burung Rakit. Hid myself behind some bushes hoping that the birds wouldn’t see me. She probably sensed danger, that the area was not safe and would not go anywhere that would reveal her nest. That was a clear signal for me to move away from there as not to stress the bird and her chicks (unsure if there were any). |
