Malayan Laughingthrush

4th March 2012, Gunung Ulu Kali, Pahang

Local Name:

Scientific Name: Trochalopteron peninsulae

They are quite a common sight  in our montane and sub montane forest.  It is quite ironic that for a bird bearing a Malaysian tag I’m quite surprised that there isn’t a local name for her, or maybe I’m  not looking in the right places.

Malayan Laughingthrush

27th March 2011, Gunung Ulu Kali, Genting Highland, Pahang

She came out to have a look at the insects on the tarmac  which had fallen victim to the  lure of the lights. After having a sneak peek at  ‘ today’s menu’ she decided that it wasn’t her taste and quickly disappeared into the bushes. Being Malayan I think she prefers ‘Nasi lemak & Teh tarik’.
