Not exactly a butterfly but you get my meaning. A Mountain Leaf-Warbler giving a moth the works, body parts were flying all over the place. Just gruesome, this is definitely not for the faint-hearted!

There are five species of Spiderhunters that can be seen here and on this day four species had decided to spend their morning slurping nectar in one small area of an orchard deep inside Kemensah. 1. The Yellow-Eared Spiderhunter (Arachnothera chrysogenys) , with the yellow ear coverts!
2. The Spectacled Spiderhunter (Arachnothera flavigaster), they are the largest of the Spiderhunters. Easily identifiable by their broad eyerings
3. The Grey-Breasted Spiderhunter (Arachnothera affinis). This one was resting on a palm frond after she was chased away by the Spectacled Spiderhunter.
4. The Little Spiderhunter (Arachnothera longirostra) drying herself in the morning sunshine. Yes, she is the little one compared to the others.
Only the Long-Billed Spiderhunters were absent which would have otherwise made it a full house. |

Glad to have captured both male and female Siberian Thrushes before the season ends and the birds fly back North. Missed the male bird when I was in Fraser’s Hill a fortnight ago. Update: I was at Gunung Ulu Kali today 27 /03/11 and they were not seen. Maybe they’ve gone back!

It rained late afternoon and into the night the day before I went to Ulu Kali . In the morning the birds were really hungry and were clamering for whatever they could eat. A night of rain usually means fog in the morning….. and it was thick fog that came with some light drizzle an hour after I arrived. I had to shoot through fog for this little beauty the reason for the colours being slightly subdued.

A confiding Streaked Wren-Babbler got really close to my camera. The weather wasn’t exactly the best for photography but luckily the thick fog and drizzle didn’t hamper my attempt to capture this little beauty.

She hopped across the road in front of us while walking round the Telekom loop. She didn’t seem intimidated by our presence as we got closer to her, we were able to get to about 12ft from her. I was later told by other birders that there were about 16 Siberian Thrushes near Green Acres earlier in the morning.
